2nd post from brunei... ok i couldnt think of a better title...
hello again... its a lazy sunday at brunei here... i met 2 of the local guys over the past few days... dr aadmaton, xavier... 2 very different experiences with 2 very different people... maybe i'll just write down what happened when i met up with each of these gentlemen...
i met with dr aadmaton on the second day that i was here... this man is the pioneer of paintball in brunei, the person who set up the only paintball field to ever exist in brunei at manggis, before it was uncermoniously shut down on 2 sept 07. Called Black September by the paintballers in brunei, it was the day when the CID raided the manggis field and shut it down. Check this link for details: http://paintballbrunei.blogspot.com/2008/09/black-september-1st-anniversary-sos.html
Sad as it may be, it is good to hear that there are people still passionate about paintball here in brunei. Dr Aadmaton is one of those people who actually is still pushing for paintball in brunei. I sat down with him at coffee zone in gadong and had a very good talk with him. The state of paintball in Brunei is literally dead, to quote the good doctor, "talking about paintball in Brunei is like talking about a person who died". Its because certain people cant give certain consessions about paintball... I think singaporean paintballers should feel blessed that we actually managed to get a field up and running, even though there's a bit a red tape here and there, but at least the police aint raiding the place and shutting us down for good. I'm really at a loss for words thinking about what we discussed about that day, it was really sad hearing about a sport which I love so much being treated like its some kind of mortal sin.
I shared with him all my experiences with him, my tourney experiences, playing in JB, singapore paintball, the whole lot. But i guess the best thing which i realized was what Pot from team Raskels told me over msn one day, Paintballers are family, whether the person an ass or a complete jerk or a really nice guy, thats what families are about. Everybody's different in a family, just focus on the fact that paintball is the reason we are all gathered at the field and playing, its the sport we love and we'll find a way to play no matter what happens!
On saturday, I met up with Xavier, one of the local guys who wants to try paintball, nice guy and all... wasted i didnt bring my camera along if not i would post a photo of all the people i've met in brunei, we went for makan, had a marathon pool game of about 11 games, ate at traders inn, met his friend too... haha... he also brought me around the mall, i bought a pair of bermudas and a hard cover for my e51... i've got my eye on a few shirts the boss brought out that day... looks pretty cool... hehe... end of detachment sure go and buy haha...
anyways i'm a bit lazy to type already, going back to watch my dvds... take care all!
xoxo Bryan... (omg that's so gossip girl) MUAHAHAHAHA

Greetings From Brunei...
hello everyone... and greetings from Brunei! Yes for those of you who didnt know... I'm now in the state of Brunei... was sent over here because of work... I will be here for a month... so if anyone needs to contact me... please do it over e-mail or msn... IF you have neither... please leave a message on the tagboard... :)
Some info about Brunei... please see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brunei
Personally, I totally agree with the name Abode of Peace... its damn peaceful here... without a shadow of a doubt... good place to retire too... Petrol is at 53cents per litre here... Drivers hardly horn at you... they even stop to let you cross the street even if its not a crossing! Traffic lights here are at a minimun, I think its partly cause of the 'give-way' culture they have here... People here so far are damn friendly... chatting with them is really not a problem at all...
Food here is cheap to the core, yesterday we had a buffet at a Japanese resturant, 12.80 per head with all the salmon and tempura you can eat... granted the food is not as good as Singapore, but hey... for 12.80, who da phuck really bothers haha... I just bought 3 BEEF curry puffs (i dont think we have those in Singapore), 2 doughnuts, 1 bun and about... 3-4 different kinds of bread, guess how much was it, $6.85!!! then lets see... Dvds! yes i must mention them, DVDs are 2-4 dollars a piece here! box sets are like 6? lol... I'm staying with 2 other people here, and shopping for groceries here is damn cheap too... $50 can stock us up for almost the entire month we're here...
The only 2 things which i dont like here is...
1st: Eletronic Equipment here is expensive sia... the headphones which i bought here, with a mic, cost me $18... i think i could get them in Singapore waaaayyy cheaper...
2nd: THERE'S NO FREAKING PAINTBALL HERE!!!
well, I'm gonna meet up with some of the Bruneian paintballers later on tonight... time to paint the town orange with illegal markers... haha...
